Children on Swings

Photographs of Maricopa Day School by Daniel Boone Linderman.

Children use the swings on the playground of the Maricopa Day School near Laveen, Arizona, 17 miles west of Phoenix. Original nitrate negative replaced with direct duplicate negative. According to local Maricopa informant who claims to have made the bricks for the school in 1916, the photo should be dated 1916+. The building was still standing in 1970, but was no longer in use by the BIA as a day school. Information was obtained and supplied by Robert Nuss. The negatives in this collection were scanned on an Epson Expression 10000 XL. The file sizes range from 51.1 MB to 122.9 MB at a resolution of 1600 dpi. The original TIFF scans were converted to JPEGs using ACDSee Photo Manager 12 in April 2013. Digitizing Technician: Tupponce, Lana K.
