Summary:
Selected photographs from Helga Teiwes' series documenting Hopi basket weaving.
Description:

Displayed on the table are three plaque centers started by Joyce Ann Saufkie of Shungopovi. Next to the started plaques are some of the tools she uses to make them: her awl and scissors. Behind the plaques and tools are bundles of white, green, red and black mooho (yucca). Behind those is a bundle of white, uncleaned yucca. A bundle of galleta grass sits in the back. Scanned on a Nikon Supercool Scan 9000 at 4000 DPI. Photoshop was used to clean up dust specks via cloning and reformatted from TIFF to JPEG. Digitizing Technician: Michael William Jenkins.
