Almarie Masayestewa weaving a wicker plaque

Description:

Almarie Masayestewa of Hotevilla begins to weave a plaque. Here, she is breaking off a strip of siváapi (rabbitbrush) with an awl. A pattern of dyed strips forming the center of the plaque can already be seen. The over/under weaving pattern of the strips can also be seen as Almarie weaves them. Scanned on a Nikon Supercool Scan 9000 at 4000 DPI. Photoshop was used to clean up dust specks via cloning and reformatted from TIFF to JPEG. Digitizing Technician: Michael William Jenkins.
